Hawaii Island Farms.

The Big Island Farm Bureau created Hawaii AgVentures to match the needs of our visitors with the abilities of our producers to host family farm visits. We work to coordinate your interests with our participating growers and processors, providing a full range of visits. Each farm offers its own unique experience. For travelers seeking on-farm visits for themselves or a large group, we schedule visits for guests traveling in their own individual car or charter transportation as needed. Some of our farms are open to the general public others are available by appointment only and do require a group minimum.

 

Hawaii AgVentures ensures enjoyment and learning through on-farm visits by offering:

  • Educational presentations about a variety of subjects related to agriculture and products produced here in Hawaii.
  • Hands-on activities.
  • Visits to privately owned properties.
  • Opportunities to ‘talk story’ and become acquainted with local people and customs.
  • Sampling of delicious treats.
  • Technical farm tours.
  • Opportunities to purchase products directly from the farms.
  • On farm catered events.

East Hawaii includes Hilo to Volcano.

Volcano Isle Fruit Co. - The industry leader in papaya production is now bringing people of the whole United States the fresh exotic tropical tastes of two distinctive varieties of papayas. Experience field freshness at its best!

Green Point Nursery - Visit one of Hilo’s largest tropical cut flower producers specializing in anthuriums, gingers, heliconias, birds of paradise, orchids and tropical foliages. In order to guarantee their premium flowers, owner Eric Tanouye will show you how all their custom order flowers are freshly cut, carefully selected and precisely packed for shipment to the mainland.

Pacific Paradise Orchids - State certified grower and shipper of premium potted orchid plants since 1988. Tea Studio - Located near the summit of Kilauea Volcano, Tea Studio’s garden spans over half an acre showcasing a beginning introduction of five cultivars of Camellia sinensis tea, Hawaii’s new diversified agricultural crop. North East Hawaii includes Hamakua Coast.

Umikoa Ranch - One of Hawaii’s largest privately owned and managed native agro-forestry projects. **Friends of NELHA - Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority is a state-operated master permitted ocean science and technology-park that stimulates economic development and diversification in the state of Hawaii. **Hawaiian Flowers - Known as "the southern most orchid grower in Hawaii and the US” Hawaiian Flowers is a family farm located on the southern part of the Big Island. They specialize in a variety to blooming potted orchids and cut protea. Owner Marla McCasland offers a variety of hands on activities such as floral arranging, lei making, and wreath making in her workshop. North Hawaii include Kohala to Kamuela

Wiaka Farm/ Beamer - Solomon Halau O Po’ohala - Waiaka Farm, is an 80 year old ranch operated by the world renowned Beamer- Solomon ‘ohana. Visitors are welcomed to join the ‘ohana in a Hawaiian Cultural Living Practicum that personifies a 150 year legacy of commitment to the art of teaching hula at Waiaka Farm.

**Parker Ranch - One of the largest and most historic cattle ranches in the United States, with a history of more than 150 years and spanning some 175,000 acres across the Big Island. Honopua Farm - Visit this picturesque family farm located on Hawaiian Homestead lands. The Hufford family and their staff will walk you through their beautiful farm featuring organic vegetables, Waimea lavender, fresh cut flowers, and of course a peek at their classic car collection. Honopua is also the home of the renowned master lei-maker Marie McDonald, a Smithsonian National Treasure.
